Our History

In June 2021, a group of 12 people with a great love for sports and basketball joined their knowledge and forces to create a sports club. A club whose main activity is the promotion and development of the sport in the city of Komotini. A model club, with a human-centered character, extroversion and a development plan. A club that will aim not only at athletic distinction, but also at cultivating the character of young children, who through basketball will learn to respect their fellow people, they will become better friends, classmates, teammates, future parents and fans!

The decision was made and it was done... Atlas of Komotini!

Since then, all the members of this group have been making sure every day not to deviate from our philosophy and vision. Based on the knowledge we gained from our studies and experience, but also with a sense of high responsibility, we are steadily moving forward by building the development plan of our club.

At the level of Academies, our main goal is to instill in the new generation our love for basketball and sports in general. We seek to offer a healthy and safe environment, in which children will develop their sports skills, learn the values of cooperation, discipline, effort and respect, so that they can develop not only into good athletes but also into good people.

At the level of the Men's Department, our goal is the gradual integration and promotion of athletes who come from the club's youth departments, creating a team with a strong identity and deep roots in the local community. The continuous progress of our competitive department was confirmed with two consecutive seasons during which the team won the 3rd place in the championship of EKASAMATH.

The 2025-2026 season is a reference point in the club's history, as Atlas Komotini won the Championship and the EKASAMATH Cup, while securing the historic promotion ticket to the National League 2. Under the guidance of coach Sofronis Papouis, the team achieved it's highest goals to date, setting the stage for even greater successes and a bright future for the club.

With faith in our values, dedication to work and investment in the new generation, we continue to dream, evolve and build the future of Atlas Komotini. The staff of our association, through methodical work, submitted a complete file of operation certificates and successfully passed the thorough inspection of an OPAP representative and today it is now a member of the program.

Through the evaluation, it proved, among other things:
Harmonization with the sports law, thequalifications of employees as defined by law, Staff insurance, the updated practice license of our coaching staff, training area quality, and adequacy of equipment. Amond other things, Atlas is equiped with: modern means and tools, a dedicated strength-training room, space safety and complete sanitized equipment, First Aid kit usage certified personel, with knowledge and certification of CPR for all staff. We are also proud that as a club we have well-trained coaches, with experience, knowledge and recognition from the General Secretary of Sports.

Their knowledge, their training and their ethos are recognized by the parents of the club who express their satisfaction with the work of our club's coaches at every opportunity!

Much like the ancient greek Titan, Atlas, of mythology, our Atlas has his own family!

The family of ATLAS KOMOTINI's keeps growing, and we are always happy to see this!

We are very proud indeed, of all the progress our young kids are having! Their development, and dedication!
